Fintech company launches initiative, scholarship for female entrepreneurs
A Swedish fintech company is raising awareness to a low number of woman-led companies in Sweden by launching a scholarship for first-time female entrepreneurs.
Froda, which digitizes the banking experience to make it easier for entrepreneurs to access capital, said this is part of their new “More than a bracket” initiative.
The company is launching the “More than a bracket” initiative today, on International Women’s Day. International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
Annual scholarship
The ‘Framtidens Kvinnliga Företagare’ (The Women Entrepreneurs of the Future) scholarship is SEK 50,000 and will be awarded annually starting in Autumn 2022 to a female first-time entrepreneur.
“Only a quarter of all entrepreneurs in Sweden are women, which is below the EU average,” Froda CEO Olle Lundin said. “With ‘Framtidens Kvinnliga Företagare,’ we want to contribute to improving the conditions for female entrepreneurs and give more women the opportunity to invest in their ideas.”
Lundin said increasing the proportion of female entrepreneurs will lead to greater gender equality in society, and lead to the progression of social development.
“More women entrepreneurs will lead to Sweden having more successful companies — companies that will help create more jobs, increased tax revenues and more innovation,” Lundin said.
