X Shore partners with Bosch to develop electric drive system for X Shore 1

Swedish startup X Shore has partnered with Bosch Engineering, a subsidiary of Robert Bosch GmbH, to develop the electric drive system for the X Shore 1 model.

This collaboration marks Bosch’s first foray into the boating industry. It also highlights the company’s dedication to sustainable technology.

Since its launch, X Shore has integrated Bosch’s largest motor for leisure boat applications into the X Shore 1. The boat also features the Bosch inverter and gearbox, which Bosch Rexroth developed and manufactured.

These components provide power, silence, reliability and compactness, which matches X Shore’s vision of delivering high-performance electric boats to the market.

The X Shore 1 uses a 125 kWh battery and a 125 kW motor, providing speeds similar to its previous model. It boasts a range of 50 nautical miles and can charge its battery up to 80 percent in just 50 minutes.

Shared commitment to sustainability and innovation

Commenting on the partnership, X Shore CEO Jenny Keisu said the company seeks “innovative collaborations” to further its “mission towards a more sustainable boating industry and a greener world.

Keisu believes in the boundless nature of innovation and the capacity to expand the limits of what is achievable by partnering with innovative companies, regardless of their size.

She highlighted X Shore’s commitment to continuous innovation and the company’s desire to form partnerships that help mutual learning, knowledge sharing and leverage “collective expertise.”

“At X Shore, we are excited to support Bosch Engineering in further strengthening their sustainability mission and together,” Keisu said.

The CEO maintained that Bosch could introduce a new, cutting-edge electric drive system technology to the X Shore 1, offering an “unparalleled boating experience.”

Bosch Engineering CEO Dr Johannes-Jörg Rüger explained that Bosch had invested in sustainability for a long time, even before it became a prominent social topic.

“When it comes to sustainable mobility, we’re continuing to strengthen our portfolio of solutions for electrified driving,” he said.

Rüger also described X Shore as a “strong, passionate partner that shares this environmental commitment with deep conviction.”

“I am happy that Bosch Engineering helps to accelerate the sustainable X Shore serial production approach by sharing series production experience and automotive-proven high-performance components,” he said.
