Swedish audio-platform provider Epidemic Sound has introduced Studio, a new AI-driven workflow tool designed to provide creators with full soundtracks for their video productions. With this launch, the company expands beyond its core music-licensing business into the broader creator workflow arena.
The product works by allowing users to upload a video of up to three minutes. The system then analyses the visuals and automatically combines music from Epidemic’s rights-cleared catalogue with ambient sounds and foley effects, delivering a ready-to-refine soundtrack draft. According to the company, the underlying algorithm has been trained using more than three billion daily plays across online platforms, helping it align audio to pacing, scene-changes, and visual tone.
“We know that soundtracking even a short, one- to three-minute video can take creators up to five hours, which often means sound-effects are overlooked,” said Sam Hall, Chief Product Officer at Epidemic Sound. “Studio eliminates this time barrier, enabling creators to harness the full potential of audio to elevate the quality of their content.”
Focus on human creativity
Epidemic Sound emphasises that the tool is not about replacing human artistry but about enhancing it. “We believe AI should empower, not replace, human creativity,” said CEO Oscar Höglund. “Studio embodies that belief, giving creators more time and freedom to focus on their stories while continuing to help artists reach an audience and earn from their craft.”
From a market perspective, Studio marks a strategic pivot for Epidemic Sound from being a music library to becoming a workflow platform catering to creators, brands, and agencies. With toolsets such as sound-tracking “Assistant” and “Adapt” already in place, this launch broadens the company’s addressable market and signals intensifying competition in the creator-tool space.
AI adoption accelerating in the music industry
The launch of Studio comes as the wider music industry rapidly expands its use of AI technologies. According to Music Business Worldwide, fully AI-generated music now accounts for 28% of all tracks uploaded to the streaming platform Deezer each day.
At the same time, major labels are also moving into AI-assisted music creation. As reported by MBW, Universal Music Group recently settled its copyright litigation with AI music platform Udio and agreed to collaborate on a “new commercial music creation, consumption, and streaming experience.” The settlement followed earlier lawsuits from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) against Udio and Suno for “mass infringement” of copyright.
